Like A Moth
A few weeks ago I posted this moth print to my instagram account.
It’s part of a new mini collection I just finished called “Like A Moth.”
I thought I would share it here along with a few heartfelt words.
Moths, why did I choose moths?
Well, it was what I felt like drawing so I went with the feeling.
Creating collections for me is always instinctive as well as educational.
No matter the subject or theme, I’m always learning something new.
A “random” fact that is not so random but full of purpose and meaning.
Moths I’ve come to learn are very important pollinators and not the little nuisances that like to eat your clothes.
With every flower moths land on they pick up pollen.
Pollen that is then transferred to other flowers and plants in order to reproduce.
Moths also symbolize change, transformation and intuition.
In the past two years there’s been a lot of change and things don’t seem to be slowing down.
If anything, things seem to be moving much faster.
But, as the world keeps changing in faster and faster ways, I’ve felt a deep desire to slow down.
Slow down and appreciate the natural rhythm of my own life.
I believe there is a time and a season for everything and nothing can be forced or rushed before it’s time.
So even though the world is quickly changing through new technologies, more and more information, and an ever changing social media landscape, I can choose to stay grounded and rooted in my natural rhythm that is specific to me and my journey.
And not feel pressure to keep up with a pace that I know isn’t right for me.
Calm.
Through it all, I’m choosing to remain calm.
A natural trait that I’ve come to realize must be protected in order to be maintained in any given situation.
So much is fighting for my attention, including my peace of mind and the soft gentile voice deep within.
I do believe it is important to be able to adapt to change.
Change can be beautiful.
I believe it’s supposed to be beautiful even when it’s messy and hard.
It’s an important part of growth and transformation.
It’s the simple daily practices that I’ve given considerate thought and meaningful intention to that begins to reproduce evidence of the daily investments I’ve made.
Like a moth.
